Wood Windows

Wood Window Services

  • We work with our clients to fully restore their windows using time tested preservation methods including linseed oil putty, oil based primers and old growth lumber.

  • We work to save the historic glass in your windows during the restoration process. When the original glass is missing or broken we work with US based reproduction glass maker to find the right match.

  • The character of an old home is in it’s features and nothing sparkles brighter than amazing colors and patterns from the turn of the century. We work to save this glass whenever possible going as far as museum grade epoxy repair to fuse broken panes. When the glass must be replaced, we work to find the right match to blend old and new.

Exterior Wood Door Services

  • Solid, old growth doors are an honor to bring back to life after decades of service. We respect the craftsperson who came before and make sure their legacy continues to out live us.

  • When restoration is not an option, we work with our clients to design and custom build exterior doors from African mahogany or reclaimed old growth lumber

Weatherstrip Services

  • Our standard restoration includes weatherstrip at the meeting rail, top of the top sash and bottom of the lower sash. Upgrade to full weather strip along the sides using modern Q-lon or traditional spring bronze.

Weatherstrip only services are also available for those who want to upgrade the energy efficiency of their windows.

  • We offer several weatherstrip options for your historic door.

Caring for Wood Windows and Doors Since 2018

Our story started like many of our customers, we’re owners of a historic home built in the early 1900’s with beautiful windows needing love. What started as a project to care for our own home transformed into NOLA Wood Windows. We are honored to have the privilege to care for the old homes that make New Orleans like no other city.

We’re small shop and dedicated to what we do. We take pride in respecting the workmanship of the original craftsmen continuing to use the tried and true methods of the past. Our process takes time and we appreciate our customers who are willing to wait for quality and professional work.

What Our Clients Say

  • We have worked with NOLA Wood Windows throughout the past year to renovate or recreate various doors and windows at our home in Mid City. They have been very responsive and creative in their approach, working with us to find several differing solutions for our home - which includes wood types, glass and hardware options.

They take great care to keep what is possible in order to maintain the character of the house and recreate (sometimes better than the original!) when it is not. We have a number of old, hard to find, colored glass pieces and they sourced replicas when the originals were destroyed/missing so that we can have a perfect match.

Also, we know that dealing with an old home offers unique challenges as many walls and sills are not right angles, they work to get the right fit upon installation, spending as long as it takes to make us happy.

The amount of compliments that we receive from neighbors and friends regarding our doors and windows that Gus and Val restored for us is ridiculous! Even strangers' comment on how great they look! We have recommended NOLA Wood Windows to anyone who asks.

    - Autumn & Gary

  • Gus and Val did a beautiful job restoring two large vitrine windows at one of our rental properties. They are so professional and easy to work with, and we got a great finished product! We are pleased to continue to work with them on other projects.

    - Beth

  • We are so happy with the work done by Nola Wood Windows. Scheduling with Val was a breeze and Gus is so friendly and professional. He even cheerfully worked in the heat of summer to get our door redone and fitted as quickly as possible. They are not satisfied until everything is perfect!

I was also so happy to see that they take safety concerns during the pandemic so seriously. They knew we were worried about exposing our infant to outside workers so worked around our schedule to protect her. I highly recommend them!

    - Kelly

  • Gus replaced the glass, sill and the sash in/around our very large window in the front of our 110 yr old home. Repainting the wood slats, with a flawless paint match was a super bonus. You can tell he loves what he does and working on these old homes with pride and that special touch that require. I would highly recommend Gus & Val. The attention to detail is so refreshing!

    - Mary & Dave

  • Val and Gus were great walking us through the process of licensing with the city and VCC. They were very accommodating to our circumstances and helped us pick hardware to make them open safely for our young son. We would recommend NOLA Wood Windows for all of your window restoration needs.

    -Melissa

  • Val and Gus are a great team. As they say, no two jobs are the same and they took the time to understand our windows and to assess what it would take to get them in working order.

Gus meticulously "opened" each window and they ordered the right balances and sash hardware to fit the need. He also fabricated two screens for our front windows, based on historical patterns. They look great and the end result of the job has been nothing short of perfect for us, not least because our windows open!
